Currently Obsessing Over: PLL Fashion! - Carlisle

On a scale from 1 to white girl, how basic does this post make me?

Hello everyone!  Today I thought I would talk about my favorite TV show, and it's AMAZING fashion.

I love Pretty Little Liars, I've been watching it for years.  I for one, am super excited for the PLL Halloween Special.  Although I am kinda upset about us not getting our traditional Halloween episode! (They are my favorites)  But we are getting a Christmas episode so it will be fun to see how the Liars celebrate that.  And what about that fatal finale?!  I was actually beginning to like Mona a little!

Anyways, on to the fashion.  Ahh, it's to die for!  I wish people at my school actually dressed like that.  I actually dress up for school, but most of the people I know don't.  I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a t-shirt and yoga pants to school or as a matter of fact, anywhere.  (Trust me, I tried it once and felt awful all day long)

Can you guess who my favorite Liar is?  If you guessed Spencer, then you're totally right!  I love her classic and preppy style.

Spencer:

Spencer has always been my absolute favorite.  She's by far the preppiest and classiest in style out of the 4 liars.  I love her personality and out of all the liars, I'm most like Spencer.  Her clothes are so daring and classic and I just love it!  She has the neutral preppy style, which I love!

Hanna:

Ah, Hanna..  I love this girl!  She's hilarious and SO fun!  I debated on whether to do her older style of her new one.  Honestly, I love the new Hanna!  I did love her old style.  She could totally pull off the chunky jewelry and neon dresses.  But I think the new Hanna is better!  She's finding herself and experimenting with different fashions and I for one, LOVE it!  And come on, punk Haleb is life ;)

Aria:

I love Aria's funky style!  She's always wearing super cute and fun outfits!  The first picture is actually one of my absolute favorites.  Her chunky jewelry and skirt made out of ties are so artsy and major statement pieces.  Sometimes I wish I had the confidence to wear her style.... sometimes ;)

Emily:

As much as I hate to admit it, Emily's style just isn't my cup of tea.  I love her character and all, but her style is just too tom-boy for my liking.  Shay Mitchell does an amazing job of pulling it off though!  The style is very tom-boy/punk which is very popular this day in age.

Thank you SO much for reading my blog!
Don't forget to comment and tell me who YOUR favorite Liar is!

Preppy Girl Tag! - Carlisle

Hello ladies!  I stumbled across the "Preppy Girl Tag" on youtube and thought it would be so much fun to recreate onto blog form, seeing as I don't make youtube videos.  So, without further ado, here are the questions:

What's your definition of preppy?
Classic and timeless.  I feel like this is everyone's answer - but it's so true!  Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitzer, Brooks Brothers...  They all hold that classic and timeless air about them.  I feel like preppy is an attitude, not just your style of clothing.  Preppy is mature and sophisticated.  Preppy is trying your hardest.  Preppy is about doing more than the minimum.

What's your all time favorite brand?
I definitely love Ralph Lauren the most.  Literally - if I had an infinite amount of money, I would buy everything in the store!  I also love J. Crew and Vineyard Vines.

What is your favorite Lilly print?
Okay so to be honest, I'm not a fan of Lilly Pulitzer that much.  I love the phone cases and agendas, of course.  But I'm just not the type of girl who likes to wear bright colors and prints.  Don't get me wrong - I don't think there is anything wrong with Lilly Pulitzer, just the clothes aren't right for me.  My phone case is in the print 'Tiger Lilly' and I love it!

Favorite preppy YouTuber?
I LOVE GlamourKate08!  I've watched her videos for a while and I just think she's so gorgeous and her style is to die for!

Jack Rogers or Sperrys?
Definitely Sperrys!  I practically live in mine!  I usually get a new pair every 1-2 years because the hold up so well and they are SO comfortable.  I wear mine all year long.  I'm not a super huge fan of sandals, but I do think Jack Rogers are cute.

Jeans or Khakis?
Jeans!  I love khakis also, but a super cute pair of plain medium wash skinny jeans are my staples for this upcoming fall/winter!

Duck Boots, Riding Boots or Hunters?
Riding boots!  I love the look of Hunters but I've never been a fan of rain boots.  Duck boots are on my list of 'to purchase' for this fall.

Navy or Black?
Black!  I seriously love black so much!  It's slimming and super classy.  I do love navy also though.

On a scale of 1-10 how much do you love J.Crew?
10!  J. Crew is one of my absolute favorite stores and the jewelry is to die for.

Favorite Ralph Lauren clothing item?
HOLY GRAIL QUESTION!  I love Ralph Lauren so much!  My favorite RL clothing item would have to be either my blue oxford or my black pleated stretch skirt (HEY it's on sale right now!  CLICK HERE!)

Pearls or bows?
Pearls!  I've never really liked bows that much.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Please follow us or subscribe to our email list!

Fall Statment Pieces - Emerson

Well friends, it's officially October!  Fall is probably my favorite season, I mean who doesn't love sweater, scarves, and Pumpkin Spice lattes?  Fashion this time of year is all about layering, especially sweaters, coats, and scarves for those chilly days.

The best accessory (in my opinion) is a patterned scarf. A unique print can add that perfect touch of sophistication to an otherwise plain outfit.  And the best thing?  Just add a different shirt and you have a totally different outfit.
Another fall staple is a warm jacket.  I personally love my North Face windbreaker, it keeps me toasty warm but it also has the advantage of not being too bulky to carry if I decide to carry it.  Best of all, it looks stylish and classy without much effort!  Pair with a tee and a scarf for a perfect fall outfit!

One of my favorite things this time of year is to explore new fashion ideas on Pinterest.  I'm always inspired by the crazy cute outfits I find on there! (Seriously though, how do they do it?? Give me your sense of style... or your whole wardrobe.)

Hope ya'll have an awesome October!  Have a favorite fall fashion staple? Comment below!

Stay Classy,
Emerson

School/Lifestyle tips! - Carlisle

Hello all!  Ahh, I am really getting into the fall spirit!  Around this time of year I get really happy and excited for all the fall and winter festivities!  For this post I decided to tell you guys how I stay organized and on top of things throughout the school year!

I don't know about you but when I hear words like 'organization' and 'structure', I get really happy!  I'm very OCD.  I get very stressed out when I don't have everything in order and I stay stressed until everything is back in shape! *hears laughter* Hey!  Don't laugh at me! ;)

So, without further ado, here are my top 5 school/lifestyle tips!

Tip #1
Planners.  Buy a planner or agenda!  This is one of my most used items during the school year.  Mine always look crazy worn out once the year is over with because I use it religiously!  Planners are great for keeping track of classes, assignments, and special events!  You can get ones that are super cute with an adorable pattern or design also.  Lilly Pulitzer and Kate Spade are my favorites, but Target has some really cute ones for around $10 that are just as good if you aren't wanting to spend the extra cash!

Tip #2
SLEEP!  Yes!  Trust me, I know what it's like to be on an epic Gossip Girl marathon and not even notice the hours tick by.  But in all reality, we need sleep.  Even if that means waiting until tomorrow to watch that season finale that you know will be epic.

Tip #3
Notes.  TAKE NOTES.  Put that laptop away and grab a pen and paper and get to work.  It is a fact that taking notes helps people retain the information that they have learned.  I am a big fan of highlighters.  I use them a ton and, like so many other things, there are a bunch of different colors! (Seriously - the purple highlighters are my life!!)  Also, taking notes with colored pens is fun!

Tip #4
Time budgeting.  Ahh..  Those dreaded words.  They often mean you have to give up watching you favorite tv show or skip that starbucks date with a friend.  One of my least favorite things would have to be time budgeting.  I mean, who wants to skip that pumpkin spice latte for trig problems?  But, it's one of those things that we are all going to have to deal with and it's better now than never!

Tip #5
Maintain a healthy lifestyle.  Yes, I am somewhat vaguely repeating tip #3.  But this has helped me so much!  I am in the process of transitioning my eating habits into more natural alternatives.  All natural vitamins and supplements are some of my favorite things.  Every morning I take omega 3 and b-50.  Omega 3 helps to get your brain functioning and gets you focused and B-50 actually gives you energy!  Both of those are all natural and won't harm you.  B-50 is really good for if you're about to exercise.  Exercise is a must.  I feel like everyone says that.  I have volleyball practice twice a week and usually a game also.  The days that I'm not doing that I will either run or walk!

I hope I helped!

August Favorites - Emerson

Hey y'all! I thought I would do an August favorites too since Carlisle did one!
Shoes:
I recently got a pair of new running shoes, the Nike Lunar Eclipse. I am loving them so far, they have great support as well as looking super stylish (who says you can't look cute while exercising too?!)  As I said in my 'About Emerson' section (if you haven't read it, you should check it out!) on this blog, I love running!
TV shows:
I've been loving Pretty Little Liars! It's so good and always keeps me on my toes!  I don't know if y'all have seen the season finale yet, but boy was it a good one!  I'll try not to spoil it too much, but I totally didn't see that coming with Mona!  So who do you guys think is A?  And what do you guys think is going on with Mrs. D and Bethany Young?!  Comment below!
Fall Fashion:
With the cold weather approaching I'm excited for all the new fall collections in stores right now.  I love me a big sweater and some skinny jeans!  And hey, it might not be fashion but I can't wait to get my hands on a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks!  My favorite place to shop is probably The Loft, I could seriously buy everything there!

Comment your August faves too!
Stay Classy,
Emerson

August Favorites - Carlisle

Hello world!  Ah, it's that time of the month!  I've always enjoyed reading other peoples favorites posts/videos so I thought I'd give it a go!

1.  Finding Carter
I originally thought this show would be some dumb cliche about a girl who finds out she was kidnapped..  But, it wasn't.  The show is SO interesting!  The story line is great and keeps the viewers intrigued.  Also, I must add, some of the male leads are very attractive. *wink wink*  This show has become one of my favorites and it has me counting down the days until the next episode is aired!  It's on MTV on Tuesdays at 10/9 central.

2.  Creaseless Hairties
I straighten my hair a lot and these are such a life saver!  I'm one of those people who, when their hair starts bothering them, they HAVE to put it up.  And we all know that's such a hassle when you struggle with not wanting your hair to crease and look bad!  These are definitely worth the money and you can find super cute ones with different patterns and designs on Etsy!

3.  Skinny Jeans
Ahh!!  Fall is here!!  Skinny jeans are one of my top wardrobe essentials and I've been wearing them nonstop!  I love fall.  Fall and winter are my 2 favorite seasons, so as soon as I can break out my skinny jeans and furry boots, I will!  I have always preferred the plain skinny jeans without the glitz out pockets and different colored threading.  I feel like the look super classy and can be dressed up or dressed down, whatever you like! (See, how can you dress up jeans that have pink threading and jeweled pockets?)  Just throw on a cute top, skinny jeans, and Tory Burch (or any leather boot) and you're good to go!

4.  Starbucks Iced Coffee
Boy, oh boy.  It's an obsession... It really is.  I used to only get any of the Starbucks Fraps but recently I decided to be cheap and get iced coffee.  BEST.  DECISION.  EVER!  I have become obsessed.  It's cheaper than other drinks (and less calories too!) and tastes so refreshing!  I really recommend it.  Make sure to tell them to add cream!  It tastes better and no extra charge!  You can pick from vanilla, caramel, and regular.  I love the vanilla! If you're looking for a change in drinks or a cheaper option then the iced coffee is the way to go!

5. Bedhead Wave Artist
I got this a while back for Christmas, but soon after I cut my hair very short and wasn't able to use it.  (I got a lot of layers)  Well, my hair has grown quite a lot since then and I recently pulled this bad boy out from the deep dark crevice under my sink and used it.  I love it!  It gives the affect of naturally curly hair and tons of volume!  It is kind of time consuming (I have very thick hair) but it takes just as long as curling your hair with a wand so why not?  It's really fun and puts you apart from all the other girls who was curling/straightening their hair!

6.  EOS Lipbalm
Funny, I still have no idea how to pronounce that!  Ha ha!  This stuff is literally the best.  I know, I'm a little late to the bandwagon.  The different flavors are great and who doesn't love all the different colors?  They are reasonably priced and they leave your lips feeling soft and super smooth!

Hope you have a great September!

Dress Like Jackie

Hello!  Welcome to Dress Like Jackie!

Dress Like Jackie (Kennedy) is an up and coming fashion and lifestyle blog.  The blog is inspired by the timeless and preppy style and influence of the classic women of America's past, some of which include: Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Lilly Pulitzer, and Grace Kelly.  Our goal is to inspire people around the world to try and keep the influence of these women alive.  The name of this blog was inspired by my favorite quote, "Dress like Jackie, act like Audrey, inspire like Lilly, and party like Gatsby."

In our culture today it has become acceptable to leave your house in your pajamas to go shopping, not to write thank-you cards, to behave in unspeakable ways, and the list could go on.  We will be posting on proper etiquette, clothing choices, men, monthly favorites, family, and school.  We are not trying to tell anyone how to live their lives - or that their lifestyle is wrong.  This blog is for the people who want to maintain a classy lifestyle and keep preppy alive.

Now, a little back story on the bloggers.  Emerson and I (Carlisle) have known each other for almost 3 years and we were best friends from the start.  We met at my (now our) country club in  October 2012.  She had just moved to the area and her family was looking for a club to join.  I was at the tennis courts and she came out and asked if she could practice with me, since I was alone that day.  Of course, I said yes and we have been friends since that day.  We were soon on the same tennis team and partners.  Although we no longer play tennis for competition, we still enjoy each others company.  I now play volleyball and Emerson is an equestrian.  We love frozen yogurt, Pride and Prejudice (the movie), The Great Gatsby (the book), pink, boys in bow ties, J. Crew, shopping, and Ralph Lauren.

Stay classy!
